PSHE

At Surfleet Primary School, PSHE plays a vital role in helping children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to lead healthy, safe and fulfilling lives. We follow the Jigsaw PSHE programme from EYFS to Year 6, with strong links to British Values, protected characteristics, SMSC and our school values.

Our PSHE curriculum is enriched through:

• National awareness campaigns, including Anti-Bullying Week, Road Safety Week and Safer Internet Day.
• Class charters that promote respect, inclusion and open discussion.
• Assemblies that address current issues and support children's personal development.
• Leadership roles such as School Council, Young Ambassadors and Playground Leaders.

Through PSHE, we help children become resilient, respectful and responsible citizens who understand how to stay safe, value diversity and contribute positively to their communities.

The six themes taught across the school are:

• Healthy Me
• Relationships
• Changing Me

These themes build progressively each year, enabling children to develop their understanding, confidence and emotional wellbeing as they grow.
