The Curriculum

At Surfleet Primary School, we follow the National Curriculum and the Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. Our curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Curriculum Intent

We provide a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that helps children become confident, successful learners. Learning is carefully planned to build knowledge over time, develop vocabulary and make meaningful links across subjects, supporting long-term understanding and retention.

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Framework in EYFS and the National Curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2. It is tailored to meet the needs of our children and reflects our local context. Alongside academic achievement, we promote children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, helping them become active and responsible citizens.

Our school motto underpins all aspects of school life, supporting personal development, wellbeing and positive character.

We are committed to ensuring every child can succeed. Learning is adapted where needed so that all children, including those who are disadvantaged and those with SEND, can access the full curriculum and make excellent progress.

Reading at the Heart of Learning

Reading is at the centre of our curriculum. High-quality texts enrich learning across subjects, helping children develop strong literacy skills, broaden their vocabulary and deepen their understanding of the world.
