Geography

Geography inspires children’s curiosity about the world and their place within it. Through an engaging, knowledge-rich curriculum, children develop an understanding of places, people, environments and cultures, while exploring the physical and human processes that shape our planet.

Each unit begins with an enquiry question to encourage curiosity, discussion and critical thinking. Using maps, atlases, digital technology and fieldwork, children investigate the world around them and develop a deeper understanding of local, national and global issues.

Through Geography, we aim to develop children who:

• Understand places and environments in Britain and across the world.
• Recognise how people, places and environments are interconnected.
• Use geographical vocabulary accurately and confidently.
• Ask questions, investigate issues and think critically.
• Develop strong map-reading and fieldwork skills.
• Form informed views on environmental and global challenges.
• Show curiosity and a lifelong interest in the world around them.

In the early years, we discover the seasons and how they change through the year.  We explore our school grounds and our local village.
